Created on 16 November 1989, the European Centre for Global Interdependence and Solidarity of the Council of Europe - more commonly known as the "North-South Centre" - was set up in Lisbon with the purpose to spread the universal values upheld by the Council of Europe – human rights democracy and the rule of law – beyond the European Continent. The mission of the North-South Centre is to empower civil society, in particular youth and women, through intercultural dialogue and global citizenship education, to play an active role in Council of Europe member states and neighbouring regions.

We work alongside educators to change the role of teachers to that of activators of learning who design learning experiences that build on learner strengths and needs, create new knowledge using real-life problem solving and help all students identify their talents, purpose and passion.

The Learning Metrics Task Force (LMTF) was a multistakeholder collaboration, led by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and the Center for Universal Education at Brookings, which worked to improve learning outcomes for children and youth worldwide. The LMTF focused specifically on strengthening assessment systems and the use of assessment data in service of moving the global agenda from access to education toward access plus learning and helping countries improve their assessment systems.

Connecting Classrooms is a global education programme brought to you by the British Council in partnership with the Department for International Development (DFID). It offers a free learning journey which helps you to improve your classroom practice and develop your ideas with like-minded teachers internationally. By developing and networking with thousands of teachers across the world, the British Council aims to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and values to live and work in a globalised economy.

The International Institute on Peace Education is a weeklong residential experience for educators hosted in a different country every other summer. The Institute facilitates exchanges of theory and practical experiences in teaching peace education and serves to grow the field. In serving the field, the IIPE operates as an applied peace education laboratory that provides a space for pedagogical experimentation; cooperative, deep inquiry into shared issues; and advancing theoretical, practical and pedagogical applications.

KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization whose mandate is to promote the use of dialogue globally to prevent and resolve conflict to enhance understanding and cooperation. Over a seven-year-long negotiation and development process, KAICIID’s mandate and structure were designed to foster dialogue among people of different faiths and cultures that bridges animosities, reduces fear and instills mutual respect.

Education International is a Global Union Federation that represents organisations of teachers and other education employees.It is the world’s largest, most representative global, sectoral organisation of unions with more than thirty-two million trade union members in about four hundred organisations in one hundred and seventy countries and territories.
