Privacy Policy
The UNESCO Clearinghouse on Global Citizenship Education (hereinafter referred to as the “Clearinghouse”) complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea and all other applicable laws and regulations to protect the rights and freedoms of data subjects. Personal information is processed lawfully and managed securely.
In accordance with Article 30 of the Personal Information Protection Act, this Privacy Policy has been established and disclosed to inform data subjects of the procedures and standards for processing personal information, and to ensure that any related complaints are handled promptly and effectively.
Article 1 (Purpose of Processing Personal Information)
The Clearinghouse collects personal information of the users for the purpose of sending newsletters. Personal information will not be used for purposes other than those specified, and in the event of a change in purpose, separate consent will be obtained and necessary measures will be taken.
Article 2 (Categories of Personal Information Collected)
The Clearinghouse collects the following personal information of the users for sending the newsletters:
- Name
- Email address
Article 3 (Retention and Use Period of Personal Information)
The Clearinghouse retains collected personal information of the users until a request for cancellation of the newsletter subscription is received.
Article 4 (Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties)
The Clearinghouse processes personal information of the users only within the scope specified in Article 1, and neither goes beyond this scope nor provides it to any third party without the prior consent of the data subject. However, exceptions are made in cases falling under Articles 17 and 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act, such as when consent is obtained from a data subject or when required by law.
Article 5 (Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing)
The Clearinghouse may entrust the handling and management of collected personal information to external service providers for the purpose of sending newsletters. In such cases, announcements will be made in advance.

Article 6 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives and Exercising those Rights)
- Data subjects may exercise their rights to access, correct, delete, or suspend processing of their personal information at any time held by the Clearinghouse.
- The exercise of rights pursuant to Paragraph 1 may be done through written documents, emails, or FAX by using the prescribed Form No. 8 of the Enforcement Rule of the Personal Information Protection Act.
- The Clearinghouse will take prompt action without delay.
- The exercise of rights pursuant to Paragraph 1 may also be exercised through a legal representative or an authorized agent of the data subject.
- In such cases, a power of attorney must be submitted using the prescribed Form No. 11 of the Enforcement Rule of the Personal Information Protection Act.
- The request for access and suspension of processing of personal information may be restricted in accordance with Paragraph 4 of Article 35 and Paragraph 2 of Article 37 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
- The requests for correction or deletion of personal information may not be granted if the information is required to be collected under other laws of the Republic of Korea.
- The Clearinghouse will verify whether a request for access, correction, deletion, or suspension of processing is made by the data subject or a legitimate delegate.
Article 7 (Procedures and Methods for Disposal of Personal Information)
If a data subject wishes to delete personal information collected, stored, or used by the Clearinghouse, the data subject may request to unsubscribe from the newsletter. The Clearinghouse will delete the subscription and dispose of the personal information in accordance with the instructions on the newsletter cancellation page (link).
Article 8 (Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information)
In accordance with Article 29 of the Personal Information Protection Act, the Clearinghouse implements technical, administrative, and physical safeguards necessary to ensure the security of personal information. To this end, designated staff members are assigned to handle personal information, access is restricted to authorized personnel only, and management measures are in place to minimize personnel involvement and provide appropriate training.
Article 9 (Installation, Operation, and Rejection of Automated Data Collection Tools)
- The Clearinghouse uses cookies, which store and retrieve usage information, in order to provide optimized services to data subjects, analyze website usage statistics, and enhance security.

Cookies are small data files transmitted by the website’s server to a user’s browser, stored on the user’s device, and subsequently retrieved upon later visits.
- Cookies are used to maintain website functionality, analyze visitor statistics (Google Analytics), and enhance security (Cloudflare).
- Users may refuse the storage of cookies, and even after consent has been given, cookies may be disabled or deleted through individual browser settings.
- If cookies are refused, consent banners or notifications may be repeatedly displayed, certain personalized functions may be limited, and security verification processes may not operate smoothly.
Article 10 (Personal Information Protection Officer)
The Clearinghouse has designated the following Personal Information Protection Officer to safeguard personal information and to handle complaints and provide remedies related to its processing. In accordance with Article 35 of the Personal Information Protection Act, data subjects may submit requests for access to their personal information to the department listed below:

Article 11 (Remedies for Infringement of Rights)
Data subjects may contact the institutions in the Republic of Korea below for consultation or to seek remedies in the event of personal information infringement. These institutions are independent from the Clearinghouse, and should be contacted if the Clearinghouse’s internal complaint-handling or remedy procedures are unsatisfactory or if further assistance is needed.

Article 12 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)
If this Privacy Policy is revised, the Clearinghouse will publish the revised version on its website and maintain a record of the changes to ensure accessibility.
Supplementary Provision (2025. 11. 06)
This Privacy Policy shall take effect on [06 November 2025].
